Language options
WinGate supports multiple languages. By using language resource files, text that is visible in WinGate can be translated into any language.
If you wish to create your own translation of WinGate, obtain the WinGate Resource Editor (available seperately) from Qbik New Zealand. This tool assists with the editing all of the text within WinGate that you will need to translate.
Selecting a language
If you have a language resource file, you may choose to use this either in the WinGate service and/or WinGate Management. Generally both will be set to use the same language, but there maybe situations where you wish to use a different language for WinGate Management (for example when connecting to a remote WinGate service which is set to use a different language).
To change the Language settings:
- Open the WinGate Management console.
-
Click on the Qbik logo at the top left of the console, and select Options then Language Options. This will open the Language options dialog.
-
Select which particular Localisation settings you wish to set language options for. These can either be for text supplied to user interfaces by the WinGate Engine, or text supplied to the WinGate Management console interface.
Clicking on the Settings button for either option will open the Language settings dialog.
- Select the Use translation check box, and then select the appropriate language resource file (if available). If you have obtained a language resource file, then these should be placed in the Languages folder located in the WinGate installation directory. Any language resource files placed in this folder, will be visible in the Language settings dialog.
-
In the For translators section, select the Write missing strings to missing.*.resources file option if you want any text that appears non translated (English by default) to be added to this file. This can be used to catalog the changes required in future translations for that language.
