Publishing Performance counters in WinGate
License restriction: Performance counters are only available when using a WinGate Enterprise license.
The Performance counters panel, located at Control Panel > Performance counters in the WinGate Management console, provides a place where you can add and remove performance counters that should be published for monitoring in WinGate. The panel lists all of the current performance counters that have been published.
To publish a performance counter in WinGate:
- Open the WinGate Management console.
- Navigate to Control Panel > Performance Counters.
- On the Performance counters panel, click the Add button to choose what performance counter objects you wish to publish into WinGate. This will open the Add performance object dialog where all available Windows operating system performance counters will be listed.
- In the Performance object pane, select from the list the performance monitor counter you require. You may choose a particular instance (if there is more then one provided by the operating system) from the Instance pane.
- In the Publish as field, provide a name that the performance object will be published into WinGate as.
- Click the Computer button to specify if the performance counter will be used from the local machine or a machine on the network. Performance counters from the Local machine (i.e. the WinGate server) are selected by default.
- Click OK to confirm the data will be published for monitoring. These will now be listed in the Performance counters panel.
Monitoring performance counters in WinGate
When you add a performance counter on the Performance counter panel, it will be published in WinGate, so the values of the associated performance counter can be monitored by the Data module. The performance counter will now be listed on the Monitoring tab, located at Control Panel > Data in the WinGate Management console.
