Specifying event processing

WinGate allows you to select and configure which event processors should be used to respond the occurrence of a registered event. You can select either one, or numerous different event processors to respond if required. In the case where you choose multiple event processors, the Events system also allows you to specify the order in which they will process an event.

To specify processing for an event :

  1. Open the WinGate Management console.
  2. Navigate to Control Panel > Events.
  3. On the Events panel, double click the selected event to open the Specify event processing dialog. If no event processors have been configured then this dialog will be empty. In the example the Policy and Run process event processing systems have been configured to process the event.
  4. Click the Add button to open the Add event processing system dialog so you can select a new event processor. If there is already an event processor specified for the event, you can select it from the list and click the Edit button instead.
When you are specifying or editing an event processor for an event from the Events panel, the appropriate event processor configuration will always be opened so you can configure/edit how it will respond when the chosen event takes place.

Processing order

When you are configuring more then event processor to respond to an event, you can set the order in which they will respond in the Specify event processing dialog (Shown above). You can use the arrows to reposition the processing order.

The Event processing pane located on the Events panel, displays the flow chart order of the event processors that will respond to the selected event when it occurs. It also allows you to access and edit the currently assigned event processor configurations directly by clicking on a particular event processor icon to open the corresponding configuration.

Note

You can specify processing for certain registered events in WinGate from within the configuration of the source that has registered the event.

For example, WinGate network services (e.g. WWW Proxy, SMTP Server etc.) have an Events tab that will list all the events that have been registered by that service. These configurations allow you to specify processing for a particular event from this tab. Similarly any scheduled events you create, will have a Processing button within their configuration where you can choose which event processors will process the event. In all cases, the procedure for specifying event processing is the same as described above.

For convenience, you can specify processing for all registered events, from the Events panel.
