Creating notification plans

Notification plans can be created as required in order to define an appropriate response for each incident that you have configured in WinGate.

License restriction:

The amount of notification plans you can create is dependent on the type of WinGate license you have:

  • Standard license

    One plan only.

  • Professional license

    Two plans.

  • Enterprise license

    Unlimited plans.

  1. Open the WinGate Management console.
  2. Navigate to Control Panel > Notification settings.
  3. From the Tasks menu on the Navigation panel select New plan to open the Edit notification plan properties.
  4. Enter a suitable Name for the plan, this will be used to identify and refer to the plan when configuring an incident throughout the other WinGate component configurations.
  5. In the Schedule pane, click the Add event button to create a new notification event that will be triggered in the schedule of the plan. This will open the Edit notification event dialog.
  6. In the field next to the Trigger event checkbox, enter a suitable title for this notification event. This is the name that the event will be registered as with the Events system by the Notifications module.
  7. In the After delay of time box, enter the amount of time (hours or minutes) after the incident that the notification event will be executed.
  8. Once you have configured the notification event, click OK to return to the Edit notification plan properties.
  9. Check the appropriate options for handling the execution of the overall notification plan.
    • This check box allows you to set the time delay from the moment that someone acknowledges the incident, to when the rest of the notification events in the plan that haven't been triggered yet will be executed. This allows a safety period after the incident has been acknowledged for someone to actually fix and close the incident (Closing the incident will stop the execution of the rest of the notification events in the plan).

    • This setting will retrigger any notification event that has been executed in the notification plan up till the point the incident was closed. This is done so people who may have received notification as part of the plans schedule, can see it has been closed and is no longer an issue, or no longer requires their attention.

  10. Click OK on the Notification plan properties to commit the changes. The new notification plan will now be listed on the Notification settings panel in the WinGate Management console.

The notification events that you have created in the plan will be registered with the Events system. This allows you to configure how a WinGate event processor(s) will respond to the occurrence of these events when they are executed by the notification plan.

  • event management (no quotes) will find all pages containing the words "event" OR "management"
  • "event management" (with quotes) will find all pages containing the phrase "event management"
  • +event -management will find all pages containing the word "event", AND NOT the word "management"
