Notification plans

When an incident occurs it is reported to the Notifications system and is usually set to activate a selected notification plan.

Notification plans can be created on the Notifications settings panel, located at Control Panel > Notification Settings in the WinGate Management console.

Notification plan properties

Inside a notification plan you can create a schedule of notification events that will be executed in the order and timing you specify. Each of the notification events you create are registered with the WinGate Events system and then become available to the various WinGate event processors to deal with when they occur (i.e. when they are executed in the notification plan). As a result, you can use the event processors to define what will happen when each notification event occurs.

For example, you can use the Send Mail event processor to send an appropriate email based on the occurrence of a notification event. Or you could use the Policy system to create a policy based on the notification event. It could be made to evaluate current data, or perform an action such as starting or stopping a service when the notification event is executed by the notification plan.

This allows you to have notification plans execute more then just email notifications. You can utilize the power and capabilities of any WinGate event processor to respond when the notification event is triggered in the plan.
