Extensions

When the Notifications module is loaded in WinGate, it will register a number of extension items to other WinGate components that are installed. These Notification extension items provide tools and enhancements to the other components while the Notifications module is loaded.

• Policy system module - Notification policy item

  The Notifications system registers the Notification policy item with the Policy system as a tool to use when editing policies.

  The Notification policy item allows you to have a policy report an incident to the Notifications system, in order to trigger off or control a selected notification plan. You can place a Notification item any where within the policy flow after the event which initiates the policy evaluation. This allows you to dictate the exact condition when the incident will be reported, and subsequently trigger the selected notification plan.

• Policy system module - Notification state policy item

  The Notification state policy item is only available with policies based on the Notification events that have been created within notification plans. This policy item allows you to control the path that the policy processing should take, depending on the status of the incident that triggered the plan (and subsequent notification event the policy is based on). The policy item will offer two different paths, one if the incident status is Active, and one if the incident status is Closing.

• Data - Threshold Checking

  The Notifications system also registers an incident configuration extension with the Data module that can be used when you have selected pieces of data being monitored by WinGate. When monitored data values breach a certain threshold, an incident can be triggered with the Notifications system. Similarly if the values fall back inside an acceptable threshold, the configuration allows you to close the notification plan with the appropriate information.
