Creating an incident with threshold checking
WinGate allows you to create incidents that will be reported to the Notifications system, when you have thresholds set on data being monitored by WinGate.
When you are configuring data to be monitored in the WinGate Data system, there is an option in the properties of the monitored data to set a threshold value (both upper and lower) that should not be breached. The configuration allows you to create and report an incident to the Notifications system and select the appropriate notification plan to be actioned whenever the threshold falls outside the given value.

To use the Monitored data/Threshold checking to create an incident:
- Open the WinGate Management console.
- Navigate to Control Panel > Data.
- On the Monitoring tab of the Data panel, select the piece of monitored data that you wish to set the threshold on. This will open the Monitored data properties.
- Choose the type of threshold checking that will be performed and whether it will be an upper or lower threshold. You can create an incident for both a lower and upper values if required. In this example WinGate is set to monitor the fullness of the HTTP Cache (percentage wise) and an upper value check will be made to see it doesnt exceed a certain level. Selecting either the Upper or Lower buttons will open up the Check thresholds properties.
- In the Trigger incident if value outside enter a value for the threshold. In the example the incident will be triggered when the HTTP Cache exceeds 90% capacity (upper value).
- In the Message field enter a suitable message that will accompany the incident when it is reported to the Notifications system. You can use the Insert Symbol button
to open the Symbol Browser and place any associated available data values in the message. This allows you to create a comprehensive message detailing the incident when it is logged.
- In the Incident field enter the name that the incident will be reported as.
- From the Plan drop down menu select the notification plan you wish to have actioned when the threshold is breached and the incident reported.
Note
The threshold properties also allow you to close the incident if threshold value returns to an acceptable value.
