WinGate Management
WinGate 7 introduces a new user interface for the management and configuration of WinGate. In previous versions, WinGate used GateKeeper as the interface to configure settings in the WinGate Engine. The actual architecture of WinGate has undergone a radical redesign in 7.
In WinGate 7, both of these components (the WinGate Engine, and GateKeeper) have now been completely transformed.
WinGate Engine
The WinGate Engine is now based on a modular design. This means that instead of being an integrated structure, where all functions and features were contained inside the WinGate Engine with no division between components and services etc, the WinGate Engine now allows certain modules and components to be loaded (and unloaded) depending on configuration and administrative requirements.
WinGate Management console
The WinGate Management console is the newly designed user interface to replace the role of GateKeeper in previous versions. Unlike its predecessor, it will display only components and modules that have been registered and loaded by the WinGate Engine, and so the content and make up of what is shown in the WinGate Management console can vary greatly.
When combined with the new Permissions system, it enables administrators to lock down access and control of each modules features, so that the WinGate Management console will only display what the user who logs into WinGate has the correct permissions to see. This allows you to use the WinGate Management console as a user authorization tool that users can use to identify themselves with WinGate if required.
Modules
Each module loaded in the WinGate Engine will provide a certain type of functionality to WinGate. They will register its features and capabilities with the appropriate WinGate systems to extend WinGates capabilities. Optional modules can be installed easily, and a range of the standard modules shipped with WinGate can be loaded or unloaded depending on the amount of functionality you wish WinGate to have.
It is possible for users to translate WinGate into any language, we have a utility for this. Please see the Localisation-readme.txt file in c:\ProgramData\Qbik\WinGate\Languages
