Monitor for dead gateways
The Monitor for dead gateways option, found in the General tab of the Extended Network Driver properties, lets you have WinGate monitor the connectivity to any gateways that may have been configured on its network interfaces.
If a gateway is deemed to be dead (unresponsive) by WinGate, it will no longer be made available for use by WinGate network services. As a result it is marked as dead in the Gateways configuration found in each the properties of each WinGate network service.
If a gateway is marked as dead it will also prevent the interface from be used as an External interface for WinGate network services, since it has no way of servicing the client request upstream.
Note
The Monitor for dead gateways option is not selected by default, and must be turned on manually from the General tab of the Extended Network Driver properties. When the option is off (the default setting) all network interfaces on the WinGate server that have a gateway set in their network properties are deemed to be available, and so will be used by WinGate regardless of whether they are working or not.
