Timeline purging

The Timeline system allows you to purge historical data from the Timeline when required. Purging can be performed either manually, or as a scheduled event that will take place when and as you require. When you purge the Timeline, this will remove the selected information from the database used by the Timeline.

Manual purging:

  1. Open the WinGate Management console.
  2. Navigate to Monitoring > Timeline.
  3. On the Navigation panel > Tasks menu select Purge timeline. This will open the Purge Timeline dialog.
  4. Select what type of purging should be performed.

    Note

If you choose the Purge All option, this will remove all history from the Timeline (and from the database used by the Timeline).

  5. Click OK on the Purge Timeline dialog to perform the purge.

Scheduled purging:

  1. Open the WinGate Management console.
  2. Navigate to Monitoring > Timeline.
  3. On the Timeline Panel, right click and select Settings to open up the Timeline settings configuration.
  4. Select the Database tab.
  5. In the Purging section, select the Enable purging checkbox.
  6. Select the period of activity that should be purged from the Timeline. You can select activity items of a certain age based on hour, day, week, month, or year.
  7. Click the Schedule button to open the Timeline database cleanup configuration (a Scheduled event configuration).
  8. Configure the schedule of how often the Timeline purging should take place (Please refer to the Scheduled Event help for more information on configuring scheduled events). In this example, purging will take place on the 3rd of each month.
  9. Click OK to return to the Database tab of the Timeline settings.
  10. Click OK to commit the changes. The Timeline will now purge activity according to the purge rule you have set, and the schedule you have configured.
