Logs

A log is the term used by the WinGate Logging system to refer to the configuration that will be used to set the name, location, and formatting details of a log file that it will create.

Logs can receive information from a range of registered logging sources to build the contents of their log file. This means that it is possible to create a customized log file by configuring only the relevant sources to supply their information to that particular log.

By default most sources will be set to a provide logging information to the log called Global. This allows WinGate modules and services that register themselves as a logging source, to be able to start logging to the Global log file after installation.

Alternatively some logging sources allow you to create their own log if required. Once created, this new log will be made available to other sources so they too can provide information to that particular log file if they are configured to do so.
