Cache settings - Purging

The Purging tab on the Cache settings configuration lets you control how often files in the HTTP Cache will be cleaned.

Run scheduled cleanup of cache files

This option will run the preconfigured HTTP Cache cleanup scheduled event from the WinGate Scheduled Events module. This scheduled event is configured to clean up of the HTTP Cache according to the settings and rules specified on the Purging tab. You can open and configure the schedule of the HTTP Cache cleanup scheduled event by clicking the Select button .

Clean up cache when full

This option will automatically clean the cache (according to the purge rules) when the volume(s) used by the cache is full.

Limit cache to a maximum of X items

NOTE: WinGate 8 only

This option allows you to specify the maximum number of items that the cache can hold. If more items than specified are wanting to be placed in the cache, then a purge operation is executed.

Purge Rules

You are able to set rules that determine how long files have to be in the cache, before they are considered to be "old" . You can also set the time limit on how long cached files can sit in the cache (unrequested) before they are considered to be unused files.

You can configure each Purge rule by:

  1. Clicking on the specific rule to set the age (in days) of how old a cached file can become or remain unused, before it will be considered for purging.
  2. Disable/Enable the purge rule by clicking on the appropriate checkbox.

Note

When using a WinGate script system (such as the Lua or Javascript event processors) or a configuration that has access to the Symbol browser, you can use the Cache object published by the HTTP Cache module, to clean the cache according to the rules you have set on the Purging tab.
