The General tab of the Edit email domain configuration, allows you to set the default delivery method that will be used for the domain in the domain rule you are editing.
Enable domain
Type the name of the domain for which you wish WinGate to perform special processing.
Rather then configuring an email address handler for each accepted email address to the domain in this rule, WinGate can automatically deliver all mail for the domain to the local mailbox that the mail corresponds to.
For example, if there is a user in WinGate called info, then by default mail addressed to info@example.com would be delivered to their local mailbox (as the above example defines a domain rule for example.com). If that user was disabled, or there was no such mailbox, then mail for info@example.com would be rejected by WinGate.
This delivery method lets WinGate redirect all mail destined for the domain to another server.
Choosing this option will open the Remote Delivery Options dialog where you can choose whether WinGate should look up the mail server via an MX record, or you can specify the address and details used to communicate with the remote mail server.
Redirect all mail to
Ticking this checkbox in the Edit email domain configuration, allows you to select a single email address that ALL mail for this domain will be delivered to. Clicking the option button will open the Search for users dialog, where you can select a user (email address) in the user database selected by WinGate, that the mail will be sent to.
Enable reception of mail for addresses where no matching address handler exists. Else mail for unhandled addresses will be rejected
Checked by default, this setting will accept email addressed to the domain, even when no matching address handler for that address has been configured on the Domains tab. The operation of this setting is dependent on the default delivery method that is chosen for the domain (See above).
When you have selected the Mailboxes for this domain are hosted on this server option for the default delivery method, then this setting (Enable reception...checkbox) will result in all mail being delivered to any matching local mailbox. Mail that doesn't match a suitable address handler, or have a matching local mailbox will be rejected. If you uncheck this setting, then only mail for which there is a matching email address handler (defined on the Domains tab) will be accepted for delivery (regardless whether there is a matching local mailbox).
When you have Mailboxes for this domain are hosted on another server selected as the default delivery method, then this setting will force WinGate to not verify email addresses, and it will forward all mail for the domain to the remote server specified. Deselecting this setting in this case, will have WinGate will only accept mail for addresses that match an address handler defined on the Domains tab, and forward that mail to the remote server (or as otherwise specified in the particular address handler). In this way it is possible to get WinGate to block mail for all nonexistent addresses in a domain, even if that domain is hosted on a remote server.
Any address handler you create on the Domains tab, will always override the default delivery method for the respective address.
