When you have configured a domain rule on the Domains tab, you can define the settings for how mail sent to specific individual addresses in that domain will be handled by WinGate. This is done by creating an Address Handler for each particular address you want specific processing for.
Each address handler allows you to define what type of delivery method will be used for that specific address if required. This will override the default delivery method that is set for the domain rule the address handler is part of. For example, if the default delivery method for the domain is set to deliver the email to a local mailbox, you can override this and have all email for this particular address delivered to another location if required.
Each address handler also allows you to set extra restrictions for all mail to that address. This includes imposing a size limit, and blocking all attachments.
The settings in an address handler will always override any settings in a domain rule.
When you have configured domain aliases for a domain rule on the Domains tab, creating an email address handler will apply that email address handler to each domain alias that has been configured.
For example, if you have configured a domain rule for qbik.com, and you create an address handler called info, then you have effectively set how WinGate will handle the address info@qbik.com. If you have configured a domain alias in the domain rule called wingate.com, then the address handling will also be applied to the email address info@wingate.com.
