Mail Collection - Delivery

When you are configuring a remote POP3 account that the POP3 Collection service should collect mail for, you can use the Delivery tab to specify how mail collected from this POP3 account is to be delivered by the SMTP Delivery service.

Message headers

You can specify the email headers from which email addresses should be extracted for delivery. Some common email headers used for catchall email accounts have been included. You can also add your own headers for your own requirements, and specify the order in which headers are checked.

The system supports multiple email addresses in all of these fields, however once addresses have been found in a matching header, WinGate ceases looking for more addresses. This is to prevent multiple deliveries. The only exception to this is the To: and Cc: headers. If none of the other headers are found, and processing gets down to looking in the To and Cc fields, then finding an email address in the To field does not stop processing. Keep these headers at the bottom if you are not relying on them.

Parse the following message headers for recipient address(es)

This setting is used to select what email message headers WinGate will check in mail it has collected so it can determine which mailbox it is to be delivered to. If all the mail in this account should be delivered to the same local account or email address, then leave this checkbox deselected and specify a default address.

This will stop WinGate from checking any of the listed email headers for other recipient addresses.

Only deliver if destination matches a local mailbox

This setting is available if you are parsing message headers. If selected, then once the destination addresses are extracted from the downloaded emails, delivery will only be made to those email addresses which are considered local. If this setting is not selected, WinGate can download mail and deliver to a remote address.

If no addresses are recognized, use the default address

This setting is available if you are parsing message headers. It allows you to specify a back-up address which will be used if none of the extracted email addresses from the email are recognized.

Default address

This is the address to which the email will be delivered if you have specified WinGate should not parse message headers, or if in parsing, no recognized addresses were found and you have enabled the default address.
