Mail Settings - Servers
The Servers tab in the Mail Settings, allows you to configure remote SMTP Server details that the SMTP Delivery service will use when it has been has been configured to use an email gateway.
Click the Add button to bring up the Server Properties and add a new server profile.
Click the Edit button to edit a server in the Server Properties.
Click the Delete button to remove the highlighted server.
The Server Properties allows you to add or edit SMTP server information.
Note
The Server Properties can be also be accessed on the Delivery tab (when you are defining a server to deliver to, overriding a default setting.)
General
Server
Enter the IP address or DNS name for the destination server.
Description
Allows you to more easily remember why you set up this server profile.
Security
Server requires secure connection (SSL)
WinGate will connect to the specified server using SSL.
Use secure connection if supported by server (TLS)
This displays whether you will use an encrypted connection (conforming to the TLS specification) to the destination server.
Server requires authentication
This displays whether you will attempt to authenticate with the destination server.
Method
Choose the type of security mechanism to be used with the server
- use best method available
- SASL PLAIN
- SASL LOGIN
- CRAM MD5
- NTLM
Note
Even if authentication fails on delivery, WinGate will still attempt to deliver the mail, since often authentication is not mandated.
