Dashboard

The Dashboard, located at Monitoring > Dashboard in the WinGate Management console, allows you create visual meters and switches to display and control data currently being monitored by WinGate.

Dashboard management

You can create new dashboards as you require so meters and switches can be grouped appropriately on their own dashboard. In the example above, numerous dashboards have been created. One called Caching has been created for the HTTP Cache module, while another called General has been made to house some simple license use meters.

You can also import and export dashboards to and from WinGate installations if you are using an appropriate WinGate license.

License restriction:

The amount of dashboards you can create and use is dependent on the type of WinGate license that you have:

  • Standard license

Only one dashboard. Importing and exporting of dashboards unavailable.

  • Professional license

Two dashboards. The importing of any more dashboards will result in them being disabled when they are added to the WinGate Management console.

  • Enterprise license

    Unlimited dashboards.

Design mode

The Dashboard panel has a design mode which lets you adjust the properties of each dashboard item, and position them appropriately on the dashboard itself. You can only create and edit dashboard items while in Design mode.

Meters

Each dashboard lets you create meters that can display in real time, any data that is currently being monitored by WinGate. Meters can be tailored to suit the type of data they are monitoring with measurement scaling and rate metering. You can customize the dial settings and appearance of each meter depending on the types and behavior of the values being monitored.

Switches

WinGate components and modules will register with the Data system, control points in their operation that can be manipulated by dashboard switches. When you create a switch, you are provided with the list of registered control points that you can build the switch around. These control points also include any global data Boolean values that you may have created. This allows you to easily change the current value of a global data Boolean value from a corresponding switch on a dashboard.

Indicators

The Dashboard also provides simple visual color, and text label indicators that can be used to show the current status of a control point (switch) or what range of values a piece on monitored data is currently in. Creating an indicator enables you to see whether a switch on another dashboard is currently on or off, or if a piece of monitored data lies within a particular range of values.

You can use basic Full-Text Searches against the page title and body to find matching articles. Use the following search modifiers to refine your query:

  • event management (no quotes) will find all pages containing the words "event" OR "management"
  • "event management" (with quotes) will find all pages containing the phrase "event management"
  • +event -management will find all pages containing the word "event", AND NOT the word "management"
