Dashboard meters

Meters give you real time representation of data that is currently being monitored by WinGate. This is provides an invaluable tool when you need to see an easy to read graphical presentation of current data behavior.

Meters example

You can tailor each meter you create to suit the type of data it is measuring. Each meter can be made to show the current value, or show the rate of data based on a per second, minute, hour, or day scale. The meters appearance can also be customized if required.

LCD Displays

The Dashboard also provides an LCD Display formatted meter, to display the numerical value of the monitored data. Just like the gauge style meters above, an LCD Display meter can be made to show the current monitored data value, or show the rate of data based on a per second, minute, hour, or day scale.

To create a meter:

  1. Open the WinGate Management console.
  2. Navigate to Monitoring > Dashboard.
  3. Right click on the dashboard and select Design (Ctrl-D) from the menu to put the dashboard into Design mode so you can create meters. Alternatively you can select Design(Ctrl-D) from the Tasks menu on the Navigation panel.
  4. On the Dashboard tool bar that appears when Design mode is enabled, click the new Meter (or LCD Display) from the menu. The new meter will appear in yellow attached to the mouse pointer, allowing you to position it on the dashboard. Once positioned, left click the mouse to secure the meter position and open the Meter settings.
  5. On the Data settings > Data source field select the Input button to choose which piece of monitored data you wish to have the meter display.

    Note

Remember that you need to configure a piece of published data to be monitored by WinGate, before it will appear as an available meter value.

  6. In the Value field select the value that the meter will display. This is either the current value (default) or a rate setting from the drop down menu.
  7. Under the Meter settings you can configure the visual details of how the meter will look. One value to note is the Peak hold setting. This option will cause the meter to display a fixed needle at the maximum value that the meter has displayed since the dashboard has been open.
  8. Click OK to add the new meter to the dashboard.
