The Dashboard has two different modes of operation, a control mode and a design mode.
Control mode is the default mode for a dashboard. In control mode, meters on the dashboard will show the monitored data they have been configured to display, and switches can be used to control the module and component operations they have been configured for.
Design mode is used when you can need to create and configure switch and meters for a particular dashboard. As such, you can only create, edit, and reposition items on a dashboard when it is in Design mode.
Right click on the dashboard and select Design. Alternatively you can simply press Ctrl-D on your keyboard.
For clarity, each dashboard item will be boxed in white ready for selection. The currently selected dashboard item(s) will be highlighted in yellow. Clicking on particular dashboard item will open its properties so it can be configured.
When you want to move the position of items on a dashboard, you can select multiple items to help you shift them more efficiently. When more then one item is selected, they can be placed into a group for easy display management. Grouping of items is done from the Dashboard tool bar.
WinGate 8: You can undo/redo changes by pressing Ctrl-Z and Ctrl-Y respectively.
Each dashboard while in design mode, provides a tool bar so you can easily create and manage dashboard items such as meters, switches, and labels as required. You can use the Baseplates to visually define specific areas on a dashboard for certain switches and meters. They provide any easy way of organizing the layout of items on a dashboard.
In design mode you can group selected objects, so you can move and position all the items in the group as required. Grouping of dashboard items is useful when using the alignment tools to give your dashboard items some uniformity.
WinGate 8: To exit Design mode click either the Save icon or press Ctrl-D to save your changes or the Cancel icon to revert your changes.
WinGate 7: To exit Design mode simply click the Close button on the right hand side of the Dashboard tool bar. Or alternatively press Ctrl-D on your keyboard.
When you exit Design mode, that dashboard will revert to Control mode automatically. If you navigate away from a dashboard that is currently in Design mode, it will stay in Design mode until you navigate back to it and change the mode.
