Send email

The Send email policy item allows you to configure an appropriate email that should be sent as part of policy evaluation. This is useful to alert administrators when a particular event has taken place, or when you require an email containing relevant event data to be sent to someone when the event occurs.

e.g. If someone makes a proxy request to the WWW Proxy server, send an email to the administrator with the contents of the request (event data).

The Send email policy item properties allow you to insert relevant event data directly into the body of the configured email that is to be sent.

To use the Send email:

  1. Open the policy editor.
  2. On the Items tab of the policy editor toolbox, select the Send email action item and drag it on to the worksheet. This will open the Send email properties.
  3. Enter the required delivery details in the To, From, and Subject fields, and the appropriate message in the Message window. If you require to insert relevant event data into the email you can click on the Insert symbol button to open the Symbol Browser. The selected event data will be automatically formatted into the desired position in the body of the email.
  4. Click OK to apply the changes to the Send email policy item and return to the worksheet.
  5. The Send email policy item will now blink, allowing you to give it a meaningful name so you can identify it easily in the policy evaluation flow.

You can use basic Full-Text Searches against the page title and body to find matching articles. Use the following search modifiers to refine your query:

  • event management (no quotes) will find all pages containing the words "event" OR "management"
  • "event management" (with quotes) will find all pages containing the phrase "event management"
  • +event -management will find all pages containing the word "event", AND NOT the word "management"
