Service control

The Service control policy item allows you to perform control actions (such as start, stop, pause, or resume) on selected WinGate services when required during policy evaluation. This is useful when the conditions during the evaluation of a policy, require you to temporarily stop or start a service.

To use the Service control policy item:

1. Open the policy editor.
2. On the Items tab, select the Service control item and drag it on to the worksheet. This will open the Service control properties.

   

   Close

3. Select from the list of installed services, which services should be controlled by this policy item. For each selected service, you can choose a control action from the Action drop down menu.
4. Click OK to apply the changes to the Service control policy item and return to the worksheet.
5. The Service control item will now blink allowing you to give it a meaningful name so you can identify it easily in the policy evaluation flow.
